Having my hands full

. “You’ve got your hands full!” seems to be the thing to say with anyone with two or more children.

Everyone and their brother seems to say this to me. In church, on the street, in the park, at the shops, shouting it out of their car window… people that know me well and people who I have never met. My reactions have changed over time from the smiling and nodding in agreement, just smiling and not saying anything, and now I say “Yes but they are full in a good way and I wouldn’t change it”. This is true.

They are right of course. My hands are often full with the small hands of my three children, the handle of a buggy, the lead of a dog, the bags of shopping and I love it. I wouldn’t change it for anything because it is perfection and it is what I am here for. Yes it might not be for the man in the van, or the woman in the shops but it is for me.

“And over all these virtues put on love” Col. 3:14 is one of my favourite quotes from the Bible. It makes me think of a big over sized, cozy jumper that makes you feel warm and safe. I hope that me and my husband can be that for our children. So being with us is the safest and happiest place for them. That they feel loved and also remind them they need to put their wellies on…
