Hello 2019, how quickly you’ve arrived. It only feels like last week that it was October and we were observing signs of autumn and now here we are in the throws of winter and a new year.
Our Christmas was perfectly slow and relaxed. We purposefully make Christmas Day fairly normal just with church and presents. Otherwise the overwhelm is too much. We don’t do traditional Christmas dinner, our Christmas dinner is spaghetti carbonara. This year I made the normal turkey fair on Boxing Day once the Christmas craziness was over and there is less pressure to make the day go a certain way. But we made sure that that was as easy as possible with frozen roast potatoes and a turkey crown. It worked out perfectly.
Unfortunately the following day, little Jude fell off a chair and bit through his entire tongue. Two trips to A and E later and seeing varying specialist and he had to have it sown back together. It was all rather traumatic for him as you’d expect for 14 months old.
He is now recovering and is fine although the stitches are irritating him. You just never know what is around the corner. All the more reason to remove the Christmas time pressure and just go with the flow, I believe.
Anyway, the tree is down and the rooms look bare but we are excited about what 2019 is going to bring us. Here are some of the things we have planned for the coming year:
- Have a baby. That’s right I am pregnant with baby number 4! It is due in the summer but our scan on Wednesday will confirm dates.
- We will be getting our first livestock of chickens and pigs.
- We will be growing our own fruit and vegetables.
- Joseph will start the local village school in September.
- We will continue homeschooling until then.
So lots to look forward to as well as lots of changes. I will keep you updated on these plans along the way.
This photo was of us drawing out a map of our house and land and deciding what we were doing with it!
Happy New Year to you all!
